These are the Truleigh Socks, designed by Louise at The Knitting Shed.
I used their 'Winter Storm' sock set (the base is A&P Classic Sock) and I am very pleased with the result - the wool is lovely to work with and makes a nice dense fabric.
For sufficient stretch, I'd suggest going up two needle sizes for the colourwork on the leg.

Beautiful socks, as is the hat you knit recently. I've just started a much simpler and very humble colourwork project this morning, smugly thinking I would try knitting the colourwork section inside out as a way to keep the strands from becoming too tight. If it doesn't work I'll heed your advice about going up two needle sizes. Thank you!
