Tsutsu Bear

    I'm not sure what prompted me to knit a bear - I've never made toys before - but this pattern is so detailed and so clear, I'm glad I had a go.

    Tsutsu's cabled jumper is one of three styles given in the pattern, together with a hat with variations too, so he could have an extensive wardrobe if you were so inclined.

    The Little Bear books by Martin Waddell and Barbara Firth were favourites when my children were small; they seemed like the perfect backdrop for Tsutsu's photoshoot.

How lovely! What a smart bear. Can’t you sleep, little bear? was a favourite with my boys when they were small.

My first ever knitted object was a bear - not quite as sophisticated as this, though :)
