Apologies for putting in this Instagram post, but for a while now I've been unable to make photographs which are fine on the camera or the phone, and in Photos on the computer appear as sharp here as they are. That's the same image above (cropped to square by the IG format) as below, and no matter how I alter the size the latter remains blurred. There may be some Typepad technical trick of which I'm unaware, and I shall try to find out what I'm doing wrong - if you happen to know, please shout! - but today I'll use the IG format, although I wish I could edit it to get rid of the header and footer.
Anyway, the socks I've just finished are plain and simple ones made with Elm Tree Yarns' 'Blackbird's Egg' DK; I used 3mm needles and cast on 48 stitches. The book is, of course, Edith Holden's The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.
Your socks look good here as well as on Instagram; the yarn is rather lovely though I have never made sock with DK yarn.

Not sure if this is what you have done or not, but I have been known to do a screenshot of my IG photo with their header and footer then open the image (the screenshot) in my phone’s images and edit/crop it from there.
Edith Holden’s diary is such a delight; I have her diary, her nature notes and Ina Taylor’s The Edwardian Lady biography of her (which I must read)🌿

Thank you, Nora, I shall try that.
I shall look up that biography!

I turn what I call 'normal' size photos into collages, by turning them on their side and then adding a border, and then once I've made a collage of the photo, turning them back the right way up. When I've done this, I find I can post them on IG without any problem. But I don't know why your perfectly good photos don't like being cropped to IG format size, very strange.
