For everyone who asked about Flora Shedden's shop, I've put what little I know in a comment on her cookbook post.
Re. the Kaffe Fassett workshop I mentioned yesterday, in case you haven't seen it, the links in this post may be of interest.
Loving people's close encounter stories - here and here. As you'll see from the latter, I've added Freddie Mercury to my list.
When I was a schoolgirl I went with a friend to see the revue 'Share my Lettuce'. In the hope of getting autographs we went to the stage door afterwards and it was opened by Kenneth Williams. He duly signed our books then told us to wait while he dashed upstairs and came down with our books now signed by other members of the cast, including Maggie Smith. He was kindness itself and asked if we would like tickets to a recording of 'Hancock's Half Hour'. He send us a charming letter (which I still have) with tickets to the show, where we added Tony Hancock, Sid James and Bill Kerr to our collection.
