In the garden there are still some roses in flower, so I've picked a couple for my desk posy: Gertrude Jekyll (the pink one), and Munstead Wood.
Munstead Wood was of course Miss Gekyll's home, and this short film gives tantalising glimpses of her garden:
What an unusual colour for Munster Wood. Glorious flowers! Here I've seen quite a few roses still in flower, they look so brave and cheerful against the fog and grey skies.
i have been watching Monty Don in his series Around the World in 80 Gardens,a lovely escape to colour!

Yes, the rose really is that very deep crimson.
Gardening programmes like that are wonderfully escapist, aren't they?

Gorgeous flowers, the burst of colour is a badly needed treat. We have entered the season of Winter ..which at the moment is a beautiful crystal and sparking white wonderland, unfortunately there is rain in the forecast ..I shall just hope they are wrong!

Our Gertrude Jekyll stopped flowering a few weeks ago and we live in mild Devon!

Perhaps we have a temperate microclimate in our corner of north Edinburgh!

It's still quite mild here with no sign of a frost yet, let alone your wonderland, Val, but lovely nevertheless to see that seasonal change of gear.
