Samadhi - pattern by Martina Behm; Blush merino/cashmere in 'Ink' by Skein Queen.
Martina says: "Sometimes, the world around me seems a little bit too loud, too crowded, too busy. When that happens, I take out my knitting, find a place to sit and feel how the noise slowly disappears while I knit one stitch after another. Well we all need some Samadhi in our lives right now! Wonderful wool again,

I love this design and colour.
In the weeks before my mother's death I spent many hours by her bedside. Often she was asleep so I passed the time knitting a shawl. The rhythem of the pattern, the way my hands had something to do really helped. And now whenever I wear it I remember her.

I like that, is it garter stitch? The colour really appeals to me and it looks like a comfortable yarn to use.

Simple, beautiful, effective.
I, too, knitted while at my granny's bedside this May...
Yet just yesterday I saw thick, ugly shawls at a "handicrafts" market, badly presented and guaranteed to put anyone off wool, knitting or handicrafts in general, such a shame - one lady assured me she'd spent 42 hours knitting something that cost CHF 65 and looked like a rag for a dog's bed :( Sigh, no wonder my Swiss environment thinks I'm a funny/strange/weird old thing for wanting/needing to knit!!
