This is the fourth pair of Hermione's Everyday Socks* I've knitted, but on these I've omitted the garter stitch edge to the eye of partridge heel.
They are made in Fondant Fibre's merino/cashmere/nylon 4 ply, and I like the marled effect the texure pattern produces with the heavily variegated yarn.
The colourway name is 'One Fine Day' - also the title of a favourite book of mine.
*My adaptations for dpns are here.
A perfect sock pattern and just what I have been searching for as I cast on the next pair for my husband. I quite agree with your modification. Thank you

Seeing the beautiful wool and the perfect socks makes me wish so much that I was clever enough to knit them myself...

I can knit socks (very slowly) and I love the yarn, but what is an 'eye of partridge' heel please?

I'm still amazed (with quite a few pairs under my belt now) that I can knit socks, but really they are not hard. Have a go, Kathleen!

It's a slipped stitch heel which gives a lattice-type effect. In this pattern you work 8 repeats of 4 rows:
1. slip 1, purl to the end (of the heel stitches)
2. slip 1, knit 1 - repeat to the end
3. slip 1, purl to the end
4. sl1p 1, (slip 1, knit 1) repeat to the last stitch, knit 1
