Enthused by my small spinning success the other day, I've invested in a second spindle and some more 'fluff'.
From Kerryspindles comes this Turkish spindle made from ash and yew, while Countess Ablaze supplied the fibre: Manx Loaghtan in rich shades of navy and teal; named He will not long be absent, it's from her Odyssey Trail collection. Although I come from the Isle of Man I've never worked with Manx wool before, so this is extra special, but I'll have to practise a bit more before I tackle it.
Incidentally, if you are at all interested in breeds of sheep (the Loaghtan is a rare, primitive breed) or sheep farming, do read Philip Walling's Counting Sheep: A Celebration of the Pastoral Heritage of Britain (the paperback will be out early next month).
Is it as much fun as it looks? I'm scared to start in case I become addicted.

It is great fun - and yes, I'm now eyeing fibre as well as yarn.
