Officer Cadet Howlett prior to his Commissioning Parade, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Saturday 27th. September, 2014.
Note the boots and belt buckle: many hours of polishing were involved.
The culmination of the parade is a slow march up the steps of Old College.
As the cadets pass through the great doors, so their rank changes to that of Second Lieutenant and they now hold the Queen's Commission.
The Academy Adjutant and his mount follow them in:
On then to drinks, lunch, and fond farewells to fellow platoon members.
It was a very fine occasion, and of course a proud day for us parents, grandparents and siblings.
I don't wish to sound frivolous, but did you meet Shula?

Congratulations to everyone and how very handsome your son looks!
As for B R Wombat's comment...thank goodness I wasn't sipping tea, too funny.

A proud day for all the families there, and marvellous to be part of such an occasion - it's quite a place (even without Shula!).

Oh wow, you must be so proud. My eldest is still thinking about going to Dartmouth after university.
Sounds like I need to do some serious catching up with The Archers......

That must have been a very proud moment. I'm intrigued by the horse going up the steps. Does he go right inside?
