A third pair of Hermione's Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder - the others are here and here - and this is such a nice, easy knit that I'm sure I'll make more.
The yarn is Madelinetosh Sock 'Stovepipe', bought at Loop, and the colour in the picture above is most like the real thing - lovely to work with and very soft on.
More details on the project page.

On another matter, there's an addition to the prize for our bag giveaway - have a look here.
I never suffered from it before but your socks make me sort of itch to try knitting a pair myself. Do you think I could understand the English description well enough(I'm not good in 'inches', but have experience knitting) to get such a lovely result myself?

I'm sure you could, Cath!
The pattern is very straightforward and such measurements as there are are given in centimetres as well as inches. I hope you'll have a go.

You couldn't ask for a better fit by the look of things, Karen, and the colour is fantastic. I've just started a pair of socks using the sort of wool that creates a faux fair isle look so plain stockinette it is. The Hermione pattern would look great in some burnt red that is stashed away though...

There is certainly no fear of cold feet in your house Karen.
You could almost start up a little cottage industry at the rate you're going.

There's another pair (a different pattern this time) on the needles as we speak!

The fit is great, and those Madelinetosh colours are lovely so I plan to buy some more, but I do fancy some self-striping, or the sort of pattern you mention, Darlene.

Lovely colour!
Socks are great to knit when the weather is warm.
I have several pairs of Hermione socks but the last pair were Snakes in the Grass (Ravelry) which also fit well.

I've just looked them up - thanks for the recommendation, Carole.
