Chicory,
lavender,
agapanthus ...
I spent a couple of hours at Chelsea Physic Garden on Tuesday - it was the perfect place for a hot day in the city, relatively quiet and with many places to sit and enjoy the greenness; the café, however, leaves something to be desired in terms of organisation and service.
The gardens sound so dreamy and tranquil Karen. I love your photo of the winding path turning towards a lush green destination.
How wonderful to not only have a fragrant, pretty garden, but one with so many uses. I'm perplexed at the apothecarial uses for the agapanthus though. Any ideas?

Chicory was my grandmother's favorite flower. How like her to love something that grows wild here in the US. We have a bee condo set up for native bees (not honey) to lay their eggs. We're hoping more bees will help with pollination in the future...not that we'll ever have a garden like this one.

Agree that the cafe can be a bit chaotic - especially if you haven't booked - but food has always been delicious whenever I've been there, and it's such a nice place to have lunch.

I hadn't realised that chicory looks so beautiful.
