Had hoped Hough's article was going to be about sex.

However as an amateur flute player what he says is completely true and very well worth noting. I would add that if you are pushed for time (I guess I mean only 20 minutes available rather than 60 or more) then don't play any pieces at all, work on your long tones, scales and arpeggios, octave (and 12th and double octave) jumps etc. and leave any pieces to one side. It may not be as much fun in the short term but it pays dividends (well it should, but ask my teacher about me one day ...) when you do have time to play the pieces you love (or will come to love). Of course if you only manage a quarter of an hour every day then one may be constantly frustrated by lack of progress and perhaps one should reconsider life priorities. Possibly things might be slightly different for pianists (no equivalent of long tones perhaps) but anyway that's my small contribution.

Although every link was beautiful in it's own right, the Invisible Orchard and the tribute to May will linger for quite a while. Thank you for providing the links.

Oh! What a compliment to be in such illustrious company - thank you!

Thank you so much for including my post. I am a long time admirer of Alice and Annie's blogs and delighted to be introduced to William and Stephen.
