Life, reanimation/resurrection, Christ, heaven, Spring, tenderness, fidelity, fertility, reliability, power, majesty, delicacy and elegance, tranquility, devotion, loyalty ... all are symbolised by this small blue flower.
I discovered some of the above when I picked up a copy of Nature and Its Symbols (Guide to Imagery) by Lucia Impelluso in an art gallery shop yesterday, and I'm glad to know that 'my' flower has these associations.
I wonder who it was who originally started the language of flowers and why would the simple cornflower attract so many accolades. As it is you couldn't have picked a better flower to name your blog after.
