What has this to do with Andy Murray's victory?
I was stitching the blue strand of the rainbow of thread during the final games of yesterday's match - stitching between points, I might add.
All the members of our group who were able to be there were gathered at Lucy's house to put the finishing touches (of which more later) to our panel of The Great Tapestry of Scotland, and - as luck would have it - to watch the conclusion of that terrifically exciting and nerve-wracking match, so we raised a glass of something suitably celebratory to both the completed work and to Andy Murray's achievement.
Incidentally, as I drove to Lucy's just before the end of the second set, the streets here were eerily quiet - there was no traffic about at all, and no people to be seen bar one woman working in her garden; this was the hottest day of the year so far and everyone, it seems, was inside, glued to the television.
I commented that Murray's reaction to his defeat in last year's final enhanced his reputation. He made many new fans that day and as a result had the whole country behind him yesterday. Well played, Andy!
Wasn't It wonderful? It was also like a ghost town here in Perthshire - no cars came down our street for the whole match, I think.

Unbelievable!
For anyone who hasn't watched it this evening, do try to catch Andy Murray: The Man behind the Racquet on iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b02ywyts/Andy_Murray_The_Man_Behind_the_Racquet/

And it was the same in Glasgow ... well ... the suburb where I live. Not a car on the street and when I went to the supermarket after the match, it was deserted!

Just for the record ... I tried posting a comment yesterday and was unsuccessful.
This is another attempt using a different browser.
..........
Yes, it was the same in our part of the world, i.e. Glasgow.

Many thanks, Barbara, and I'm glad to know about this problem with posting comments.
