This is yet another of Hugh F-W's recipes, looking promising before cooking above, then ready to eat below. Opinion here was divided between the "I think there are better things to do with asparagus" and the "it makes a change from steaming them with Jersey Royals ...". I was firmly in the 'for' camp.
Buffalo mozzarella, a sprinkling of grated Parmesan, some softened onions, and the finer spears from a small bunch of asparagus. (And if you have the book, I can also recommend the kale and onion pizza on p. 186.)
I'm with the 'for' camp, though I haven't tried it I will have to admit. I don't think I have eaten asparagus with potatoes, does that combination really work? We've been cooking a few recipes from H F-W Three Good Things recently; most of them have been! We cooked his "pasta, asparagusand chorizo" recently, substituting a Sicilian hot sausage for the chorizo and that was very simple and tasty.

Yes, asparagus and potatoes are good (with mayonnaise or hollandaise sauce) but they must be well-flavoured salad potatoes.
Glad to hear Three Good Things is a success; it's one I haven't got but have my eye on.

I am for, but the rest of my house would stage a revolt. Philistines.

Definitely for, with some very good mozzarella!

For. Just dusted down my copy of Veg and that was one of the recipes that caught my eye, so glad for your recommendation. We're going to try the butternut squash and Merguez chick peas tonight (because we have everything in the house).

They are good, aren't they?

I know - you can't please all the people all the time.
