Winding a skein of yarn for the next round of the scarf, I stopped to see if I could capture the range of colours and shades - reds, purples and turquoise fleck the blues - which go to make Storm Petrel. My picture doesn't really do it justice, so have a look here instead and click on 'story' for what's behind the name. There are more beautiful pictures of yarns and the natural landscape which inspired them here.

What inspiring yarns - I love the 'hebridean colour story' and it's beautiful photography (we are visiting Harris in September for the first time), and your scarf is wonderful!

I hadn't thought of that, but you are right!

Freda, I hope you'll enjoy Harris tremendously! We've been to Lewis three times now, staying more or less on the 'border' between it and Harris, and the landscape is glorious.
