An oak door made by Rollo Dunford using traditional planking and nail work techniques. The oak leaf latch handle is by blacksmith Terry Harwood. The wood for the door is from a 222-year-old oak tree grown on the Blenheim Palace Estate and felled for the One Oak project, and all the items made from it or inspired by it have been on show here in Edinburgh at the Royal Botanic Garden.
We were very taken with the door which is for sale (£1700, I think), but having no place for it here I hope it finds the right home.

Along similar lines, you may remember a post on gateways and one on footbridges.
Not surprising that you are taken with it, it is so beautifully simple and the craftsmanship is gorgeous.
I would love to have the sort of house that would do justice to a door like that but it would have to be the right sort of house and probably in the country!
Oh well I can dream!

I love this! I wish I could afford it - I'd have them ship it to me pronto. And as I live on Old Oak Tree Court and have a note card business called Oak Tree Court Desigsn, it would be PERFECT for me!
ps I am reading and loving The End of Your Life Book Club. This morning, I read the part where she says, "This is my last party." I bawled like a baby.

We thought it would be lovely as the door into a walled garden ... as you say, one can dream!

I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying Will Schwalbe's lovely book, Heather, (and it's impossible to keep a dry eye, as you say).
That door would be perfect for you, and I love the oak leaf handle, etc.!
