I've been making Nigella's blackberry galette - recipe in How To Be A Domestic Goddess and on her website.
I tried it twice over the weekend, firstly exactly as specified, finding that the quantity of pastry it yields is less than generous, and then on the second attempt increasing it by 50%, but I still don't see how that would serve six unless it was part of a large meal or the diners were mice - we were four humans of regular appetite, and it was fine, but I'd be inclined to double the original amounts next time.
Further modifications: I baked the pastry blind, and would certainly do so again, and I sprinkled the berries with grated lemon zest, and that flavour does come through.
My pictures aren't up to scratch as I knew that any faffing around to get aesthetically pleasing shots would try the patience of those waiting for their pudding, but looks apart, the galette is absolutely delicious, the pastry very short but nicely crunchy and with the extra 'bite' of the polenta for interest. Highly recommended.
Sounds nice. The blackberries have been so good this year that I'm actually getting rather tired of blackberry and apple crumble.

I think I shall have to go blackberrying tomorrow and try this. A week ago they weren't ripe, but hopefully there will be some now.
