This very short but beautifully expressive piece of writing by the pianist Stephen Hough caught my attention this morning, so I offer the link in the hope that reading his words will give you a moment's restorative contemplation.

Thank you! As in the piece, I 'stumbled' into Evensong during a trip to the UK in September. I wanted to see the abbey, but visiting hours were over and my friend and I arrived an hour too late. A travel companion had reminded us to experience things, not just see them and I'm glad we took the opportunity presented to us. The choir was beautiful.

My daughters have been lucky enough to sing Evensong twice at Westminster Abbey. It is truly magical.

Thank you for the link! I shared it with an Episcopalian friend, opera singer, voice teacher, quilter, grandmother, who has just returned from a trip to London.

"Experience things, not just see them" - what a good piece of advice.
