Try as I might, the modelled shots of this jacket just aren't up to scratch so instead I'll go with details 'on the hanger'. We bought the tweed some time ago directly from the weaver, John MacLean of Garynahine Harris Tweed (you may remember our first visit to him), but only now has it been made up into a jacket, for Harriet, by Mette Baillie of Freja Designer Dressmaking here in Edinburgh, and it's a gorgeous piece - I want one for myself!
Mette drafted the design to Harriet's specifications and after a couple of fittings it was finished in no time. It looks superb on, and we love the details such as the brown suede buttons against the mossy greens of the tweed and that flash of red satin lining. Thankyou to weaver and designer both - your skills complement one another perfectly.
Post the jacket and Harriet down to me and I'll whisk them both off to Morgana! More seriously does Baillie tailor for men too?

Beautiful finishing, especially the buttons, what a lovely thing

Couldn't tell you, but no harm in asking her.

It is lovely - perfect fit, of course, and all beautifully done. H is thrilled with it.

Hi
Delighted to see what looks like a beautiful jacket and delighted also that you are pleased with the tweed. We love seeing the finished articles! Any chance of a photo of the whole garment? We're having the website revamped this year at last and would love to have photos finished articles on it.
Love the blog - as a foodie and a bookie it's right up my street!
Thank you also for the links.
Best Regards

Hi Anne - and John, too!
I'll certainly send you a picture of the whole jacket; it's beautiful, and a 'walking advert' for your lovely tweed.
All the best to you both.

Exquisite. I'm rather envious, so thank you for the links!

I'm melting at the thought of having such a gorgeous article specifically made for your very own. Lucky Harriet!

The jacket is gorgeous!! Your post reminds me that a friend in England sent me a piece of tweed fabric years ago and I never got around to having anything made of it. I think she had envisioned a skirt, but I would rather have a jacket - though I don't think there was quite enough material for that.

The jacket is fab (I won't show my daughter, or her Jack Wills will seem doubly inferior!)

I'm envious, too. I think it's my turn next ...

She is indeed fortunate. I must say, though, that it was a very efficient and speedy process: an initial meeting at which Mette sketched the design from Harriet's ideas, then a fitting with the toile, one with the tweed, and then voila!

I'll admit that that piece of tweed sat for about eighteen months before we made a proper effort to find a designer.

I must try again to get a proper shot of the whole thing - not to make anyone jealous, though!

This jacket is to die for! Would love one just like it...
