They are slightly more purple (on my monitors of course) than I'd expect. Is that a "real" (ha ha) effect to your eyes or is it a colour gamut feature (looks like they might be indoors for photography) do you think? Just wondered if the blueness depended upon seasonal light intensity or duration.

Of course they are quite pretty too!

I have lovely postcards from a good exhibit on Egyptian gardens that I went to in Cologne. They show the use of cornflowers with celery leaves for a burial wreath for "der Mumie des Quent". The exhibitors did analyses of the flowers found in Tut's mummy case too, and then did a reconstruction. Picture here: http://www.koeln.de/koeln/museum_zeigt_die_liebe_der_aegypter_zur_blumenpracht_481426.html

If the exhibit shows up in the UK, I would go see it. If it shows up in the US, I will see it (since then I wouldn't be trying to translate German into English without a dictionary). I may end up buying the giant coffeetable book that went with the exhibit because the images were so wonderful and colorful.

Cornflower

They do come in a range of blues, but these field cornflowers are quite purpley, and the picture is pretty accurate in terms of colour.

Fascinating! Thankyou so much for the link.

They are just lovely Cornflower. We too, have had a mild fall and records were broken. We had no snow for the entire months of September and October. Alas it wasn't to last. We had a major storm last week and it came with low temperatures too. Winter as we know it, has arrived. I am in my winter boots now until the spring!

The view from my window is that of white covered lawns, it's a little cool but the sky is an 'Alberta blue' clear and sunny. My favourite winter scene.

Beautiful! The weather is slightly freakish, but I am not complaining, last winter seemed so cold and dark that this late start is very welcome
