Finished! The Red Wine and Port Socks from Jane's lovely book The Gentle Art of Knitting. The yarn is Moondance from The Yarn Yard (currently on Etsy, but follow Natalie's blog to be sure you don't miss anything), dyed to resemble the colours of Edinburgh's slate roofs in the rain. Perfect for the pattern, the grays and blues are a lovely subtle but interesting mixture - though the picture doesn't do them justice - with a touch of stellina for sparkle.
These were commissioned by Harriet who asked for "really cosy, comfy, cabled socks", and I think I've given her just that - my feet like them, anyway.

To scale - with reference to that post, I worked two extra pattern repeats in the leg and still have yarn left over.
Lucky Harriet! Just lovely. P xx

Nice :-). I have some Moondance I haven't decided what do with yet - it hadn't actually occurred to me to make socks with it!

, For someone who wasn't a very good knitter you are doing remarkably well. Where's my pair?

My lovely phone-sock is wearing out! May I commission another, after you have provided your mother with her socks of course.

I made you two, as I recall - have both worn out?

They've gone down well here, and the spangly bits are a particular attraction!
