Get your Bertie tea towel here!
Edinburgh's Context Interiors - both in the flesh and online - are the sole stockist of this and other items inspired by Iain McIntosh's illustrations for Alexander McCall Smith's very popular 44 Scotland Street books.
If you're a fan of those books and of his Isabel Dalhousie series (Mr. C. makes another appearance as himself in the latest one, The Forgotten Affairs Of Youth), you may like to see this short film of the author touring some of the books' locations.
Thank- you so much for this!
McCall Smith was a speaker at our public library this past spring. What a delight he was! Wearing a kilt and recounting wonderful off-the-cuff stories for us!

You are a genius! I've been looking for a good present for a friend and she is a great fan of AMS and 44 Scotland Street in particular.

Mr C? Has he appeared before? How have I missed this?? I am an enormous fan of all of Mr McCall's work and especially love the Isabel Dalhousie books. I am glad that he is such a prolific author and save his books to read in between, well almost everything else. I know that I will get wit, gentle pace and colourful characters.

Yes, Mr. C. first appeared in The Careful Use of Compliments.
It'll go to his head ....
