Over the last week or so I've been deluged with spam emails, dozens of them a day. Most are in my inbox and have to be weeded out, while some go to the spam folder where they obscure the odd 'real' message which the mail system has put there - I know I've deleted at least one proper email by mistake as a result.
Add to that the extreme clunkiness of BT Yahoo mail at the moment - I'm on the new version which is billed as being twice as fast, having even better spam protection and being a breeze to use, but in my experience it is none of these things - and mail-wise things are very slow here indeed, so if you've contacted me and not had a reply yet, that's most likely why.
I've noticed an increase in spam comments on this site, too, but frankly, spammers, I wouldn't bother if I were you as I delete your pesky offerings pretty sharpish.
Ironically the first comment you have got is spam!!!

Oh bad luck with Yahoo. I hate it because it's always wanting me to use its search engine and it does everything it can to stop me joining a Yahoo group.
I still haven't been able to register with Freecycle.
OTOH I'm having terrible trouble with Google mail which wants me to change my email name. I've had to revert to using Eudora; fine on the PC but I can't use it anywhere else. Grr. All programmers should have 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' tattooed on their foreheads.

A friend of mine uses BT Yahoo and my emails to her often disappear into her spam so I never know if she's received the email or not. I swear by Gmail - efficient and pretty (like myself -ha-ha!).

Have you ordered anything online in the last week? I get a bit of spam every day but when I order something I sometimes get shedloads. I spoke to my ISP about it (a lovely British company called IDNET where you can talk to real people quickly) and they said the spam comes in attached to emails. I ordered some worm pills for my dogs the other day from a company which had 'med' in their title and I think the spammers perhaps look for this sort of word because I had Loads of Viagra stuff for a couple of days. Luckily it tails off after a week or so but i do understand your frustration. I imagine what it will be like if I go away - so I stay at home...

The only problems I've had in the last couple of weeks is with mssgs. to a couple of yahoo groups that didn't show up - and I rec'd. 'bounce' notices from yahoo for those (I checked & both times the addresses Were Correct!). And, twice, posts to yahoo groups have shown up from 4-5 days to a whole week later. This is with only two of the yahoo groups I'm signed on with. Other than that, all traffic coming & going is fine (I have 4 email addresses - hamp.edu, gmail, yahoo, & hotmail - all used for more-or-less different things).
What kinds of spam do you get on your blogs? Is it advertising - or something worse?

I'm so dense. I read your first article about the pine nuts, garlic, parmigean etc. Sounded so good! And then I was utterly amazed that you were going to discuss Spam! (as in canned meat)!
