Dear Cornflower, I have a request.
Over the last 15 years it has become more and more difficult for me to buy trousers and jackets in the usual "high street" stores. I have had some success recently with trousers (formal) from Pierre Cardin in "Moss" and trousers (casual) from "Topman", but apart from one possible jacket (I mean one physical jacket that fitted not any choice of styles) in one of the UK's largest John Lewis I'm pretty much stymied. As you know I do sometimes buy clothes these days in vintage shops but that's a fairly hit and miss approach.
So my question to the Cornflower experts is this; where in UK (or possibly Paris, Brussels or Geneva) can I find a reasonable choice of trousers (smart and casual) with 72 cm (28") waist and jackets for 92 cm (36") chest. This cat is MALE, 51 years old and 168 cm tall.

Perhaps you have already tried Uniqlo, but if not, they may be a good source of jackets if not trousers (the jackets start at a 31.5-34.6" chest and the trousers at a 30" waist, according to the website). I can't speak for the menswear but I'm fond of their women's line, which is of good quality and tends to fit slim. They have a couple of branches on Oxford Street, as well as an online shop.

Alice, thank you! I had wondered about Uniqlo but had not yet ventured in although I've walked past the Oxford St branches a couple of times in past few months. Will let you know how I get on.

I need a book that will last 14days. For a 2d train journey down through France, 10d walking in Corsica, 2d train journey back and I'm quite a fast reader. So something densely written with lots of plot and lots of pages available in paperback.
I know it's quite a bit to ask, my other half will be on his Kindle so I can't use that, but I don't want to carry too much up and down the GR20
Any suggestions?
