A few months ago, before I entered the 21st. century and became the Gadget Girl I am now (and does that not impress my children?) I was scathing dubious about using a mobile phone for meal inspiration and recipe information. Well, the Nigella Quick Collection 'App.' is on special offer just now, so at Harriet's persuading I got it and we have tried it out.
We made Totally Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies, the recipe arranged in easy to read 'pages' on the phone, but - here's the clever bit - you need not touch the gadget with your sticky fingers when you want to turn to the next page, it incorporates voice-activated controls, so all you have to do is say "forwards" or "backwards", and your page is turned for as you instruct!
There are 70 recipes on the app., videos, too, and a shopping list function; handy to have in the bag while you're in the supermarket and trying to think what to cook, and fun to play with in the kitchen, this won't replace a cookery book, but I can see myself consulting it when I'm planning a week's suppers and my mind's gone blank.
Is this your phone or is it really Harriet's?
Enjoy your new life as slave to electronica! Take care, most of the people I know with a modern smart phones (or indeed small laptops etc.) are always fiddling with them, reading email, checking websites etc. I wonder if you can resist the lure?

I did laugh out loud at myself this afternoon as there I was at the Desk of Power with laptop, camera, iPhone and Kindle, all hooked up, doing a combination of technological things!

Too funny! You have left me way behind. I can't get my phone to work properly yet. Let alone get it to give me cooking instructions. I have so far avoided the Kindle because I can't stand "fiddling" and I am afraid that is what might happen to me! But you go ahead and enjoy it for the rest of us. I will figure it all out one day.

Deirdre, it's only fair to say I had help with the phone from "a young person"!

Ah ha! So it is Harriet's phone (but your bill I'll bet).
