Elaine has written about Saturday night's Sondheim Prom at much greater length than I shall do, but it was a treat, and if you can watch it on iPlayer* then do; there were many highlights but I'll choose two:
the very funny Everybody ought to have a maid performed by Daniel Evans, Simon Russell Beale, Julian Ovenden and the great Bryn Terfel (*start at 1.42.30 and be sure to go on to the very end - 1.47.20),
and preceding that, Julian Ovenden stopping the show with Being Alive (*1.37.18 - 1.42.20) - I'd only ever seen him as Andrew Foyle in Foyle's War, but he was a choral scholar at Eton and Oxford, and no wonder as what a beautiful voice he has!
