It's still not as it should be but at least the textures of the ribbing and the plaited cables show up well. So what am I making? Not a polo neck sweater, as you might think from the shot below, nor is it something there should be much call for here in June (though it's not exactly 'flaming' at the moment).
It's the hot water bottle cover from Erika Knight's Simple Knitting, and it's more than half done so if we get an unseasonably cold spell, my feet will be fine.
You knew it wouldn't match I hope? I keep reminding you about gamut. I'm sure it's lovely.

Up in Aberdeen I am still using mine - the three smallest will (individually, I hasten to add) fit nicely into the gap at the back of my jeans, so keeping me snug as I pootle around the house or on outings to the quilt shop. Now, a nice, rich blue cover like yours would go down very well on my petite bouillotte.....

Your cover is so much more beautiful than the one I made from the sleeve of my husband's old sweatshirt sleeve.

It looks gorgeous, all those lovely blue cables but let's hope you don't need to put it into use for a few months yet.
