Not quite Rupert Brooke's beloved "White plates and cups, clean-gleaming, Ringed with blue lines..."(see The Great Lover), but blue and white - on china or anything else - makes such a lovely combination that it's worth putting here.

Ahh lovely - my favourite blue and white china is Cornishware.

I have loved that poem since 7th grade (U.S.) and have NEVER seen it cited anywhere. We were given a writing assignment to create a poem using Brooks' form about things we loved. Would LOVE to see a copy of my poem and my own 12-year old "loves" today. Also love blue/white porcelain, crockery, fabric---may emanate from early introduction to Rupert Brooks.

I love the combination of blue and white. Growing up, our family china was the Meissen blue onion pattern and it's still my absolute favourite.

Blue and white is a classic combination, first in 'china' from the orient and then in English blue & white ... I don't collect it as I don't have sufficient room to display it, but if I had a dresser it would be filled with blue and white. Don't know the poem ... will check it out, as they say.

I love blue and white china too and have quite a collection but am running out of room to store or display it properly. What pattern is that please Cornflower? Is it your tea set?

It's Crown Derby, Melody, but I don't know the pattern - it's a two-person breakfast set: china tray, teapot, etc. which was bought at auction years ago. It sits on my dressing table as I love it and it matches the room which is painted blue and white!
I'll try and post and proper picture later.
