More blue and white china, these fragments all fished out of a Scottish loch which seems to have been used as a convenient dumping ground for the local "big hoose" in bygone days. But they tie in nicely with something called Penrose Tiling which I'd never heard of until I read a reference to it in The Debt to Pleasure

How nice to see a link to mathematics back again on Cornflower. I thought you might be interested to see an ancient Islamic example of Penrose tiling. I seem to remember doilies making a brief appearence sometime back (and I was probably very sniffy about them) so to make up here is an example of a Penrose version. Finally, you should be placing your coffee cup on that doilie which, naturally, is now resting upon this coffee table!
