This is just a cheery bunch of supermarket flowers to brighten up the house, but does it have a deeper meaning? If you're in or near London from next Tuesday (30th. March) you might find out by visiting the exhibition A Garden within Doors: Plants and Flowers in the Home which is on at the Geffrye Museum.
As to the emotional significance of food, you could do no better than read this excellent book.
I am indeed in London on the 30th, but I'll be tied up most of the day at HEPP 2010 meeting at U C London so I think I will not get a chance to find out "the answer". It's an absolutely gorgeous spring day here in Versoix/CERN, with the temperature approaching 20 and carpets of spring primroses everywhere. The Black Kites are back too, so it's just lovely all round. Wish you could be here to share it with me.

This looks a fascinating exhibition, one I shall definately try to get too. I was all set to go to the Mrs Delany at Sir John Soanes this week whilst up in town to meet old friends...until I realised the museum shuts on a Monday, so went to the V and A Quilts instead. One is spoilt for choice this year in London!

Lovely post! I took a virtual tour of the exhibit, what fun. Had never heard of this museum. And the book sounds like a must read.
