I had this on my Christmas list, but Santa brought other good things instead, so I've bought it for myself: Tender: v. 1: A Cook and His Vegetable Patch.
I was going to say that this will keep me out of mischief for a while but the opposite is true, for like Nigel, I'm planning to dig up the lawn......
Me too!
I got it for Christmas, isn't it wonderful?

I've read lots of good things about this one, let us know what you think.

Oooh, I am most envious, I've had my eye on that book for a while too. Of course the trouble with Mr Slater is that he really is a thoroughly bad influence, his writing makes me want to indulge in all sorts of calorific treats and now he is tempting you to dig up your lawn!

I have a very large lawn, it takes several hours to mow; time which could be spent digging, sowing, harvesting and cooking fresh vegetables. I have considered for a while it would be wise to dig at least some of it up. Then I would just have to buy the book too!

Wow, fifty-eight five star ratings on Amazon! I have yet to see this one grace the shelves in our local bookshops but I'll be extra vigilant now.

Santa very kindly brought me this book - it is wonderful! I too have plans to dig up the lawn. In the meantime thanks to Mr S the curly kale which regularly turns up in our weekly veg box is seldom relegated to the compost heap.
