I've never seen an entire performance of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, only odd scenes on television, and while I have a recording it is of the Suite, not the whole work, so I didn't know that the Dance with Mandolins existed until I heard it on the radio the other day. As it's pure exuberance and fun I thought it would be good to include it here, and it has given me a probably unattainable ambition: to be supple enough to do that progressively-higher-triple-leapfrog-thing (technical term, anyone?) which you'll see at 1 min. 50 secs.
Happy New Year!
(Oh, and would you like to win a book?)
Happy New Year and yes I would love to win a book. I enjoyed the video this morning.

Thanks for the lovely video. I read your blog every day and enjoy it very much. The photographs of Edinburgh are wonderful. I have visited once, and it is one of the places I would love to see again.

Thankyou, Ann. I hope you'll manage to make a return visit to Edinburgh before long.

Happy New Year, and thanks for the clip.
If you get a chance, the ballet of Romeo and Juliet is well worth seeing, I really enjoyed a performance at our Opera House a few years back.

Dark Puss is going to the opening night of this ballet at Covent Garden next week (http://www.roh.org.uk/whatson/production.aspx?pid=10633) courtesy of one of his generous friends. I'll report back!

I enjoyed that, but rather you than me with the leapfrogs! And yes, I love winning books...
