The other day I watched the DVD of The September Issue, a very interesting documentary about Anna Wintour and her team at Vogue and how they produce the 'big' issue of the year. One of the main strands of the film was the magazine's all-important cover shoot, from the model - Sienna Miller, to the photographer - Mario Testino, and the location - Rome in all its glory. Despite a huge budget and skilled professionals, the shoot did not go without a hitch as Sienna's hair was found wanting and a wig was in the offing, Mario wasn't happy with the Coliseum, there was some minor frock crisis and Anna didn't end up with as many snaps as she'd have liked.
Having enjoyed this glimpse of the glamorous world of the high fashion magazine, you can imagine the scenes of unbridled mirth which took place in this house when my husband, the mild-mannered (but apparently 'celebrated' in some quarters) Mr. C. told us he had been invited to appear on the cover of a magazine, and what's more he's down in London today shooting it beside Landseer's lions in Trafalgar Square!
To say that his devoted family is pulling his leg about this is an understatement, and big ham that he is he takes all the ribbing in good part, but I'd love to be watching from the sidelines to see how it goes. Will the editor be happy with the model's (slight lack of) hair? Will his toned physique show up under the well-cut pinstripe suit? Will the lions hog the frame? Not likely, knowing their co-star.
All will be revealed in due course on the front of a financial mag. Guaranteed to boost circulation? Even as we speak they'll have the airbrush at the ready....
How fun!

As a veteran of five shoots myself I know how he will feel! My hit rate is about 3 pictures per one hunderd taken.
Well done G*****! I look forward greatly to the results. I don't suppose my Lady M has been asked to be the photographer by any chance?

I would like to see that documentary - should be very interesting.
Have you seen the movie "The Devil Wears Prada"?
I liked Meryl Streep in that so much that I bought the DVD. :-)

We love the lions! I have a picture of my kids ontop of them when they were 8 and 10. I'd love to have an updated photo.
Good luck with the fame.

Ah, family--how it functions to keep us all humble!
