... berries, not yarn!
But this post isn't for remarking on the perfect colour match, or discussing the progress of that sock,
it's just to say that coming up soon will be some things you've recently asked for or about which I haven't answered yet, so please stay tuned, but meanwhile here's another 'purl' from the remarkable Mrs. Zimmermann, (this one can be found in Knitter's Almanac):
"Some may gasp and stretch their eyes, but knitting and reading at the same time is just a matter of practice. Of course, you must love knitting and you must enjoy reading; if you don't love them equally, one at a time is sufficient...[but] start practising and your new skill will be acquired more quickly than you think possible. Train yourself first by knitting with your eyes shut, and then by reading to yourself while knitting."
ohohohoh...look at that luscious red!!! I can't wait to see what's next!! :)

Boy, that is a perfect colour match isn't it? I can't imagine knitting and reading at the same time, would be nice though.

But how do you hold the book and turn the pages?!?! I have discovered that I can knit while reading ebooks on my laptop which sits on my knee and only occasionally needs a button pressing, but I can't imagine how you do it with a real book.

Arrrgh! Nooooo! What book worthy of Cornflower and her readers deserves such cavalier treatment?

My whole family-of-origin reads and knits--maybe that's why my favorite knitted garment is a roll neck pullover all in stockinette! The secret is to read hardback, not paperback, and to find the right way to prop the book. Far from being disrespectful, as DP suggests, it provides a most wonderful balance of peace, gentle productivity, and attention that's hard to achieve elsewhere. My latest sock (tho not the heel, needless to say) has provided the backdrop for--has enhanced, really!--a good deal of Sense and Sensibility, and I think both Jane and Elinor would approve.
I do love the image of EZ knitting with her eyes closed to practice: I think I started just by trying to squeeze in a little of each before starting the other, and suddenly, I could do them together! Of course audiobooks solve a number of those issues all at once, but they're more limited in choice and much more expensive. Any way to fit more of two favorite things into my overflowing life: I'm for it!
Still haven't figured out how to mark papers and knit at the same time, however.

I can't even imagine knitting and reading at the same time. While I like to listen to Radio 4 while knitting, I definitely need to keep my eyes on what I'm doing! K x

Plain knitting, I could do that but cables or lace and reading...no way!

It has to be knitting OR reading for me. Knitting and listening, yes, but not knitting and reading: neither would be so enjoyable when combined!

No I can't knit and read at the same time. I have tried but I end up leaving my knitting and continue to read. My mother often knitted school jumpers while reading murder mysteries.

Well I just can't. In fact I often feel quite challenged with both eyes wide open, specs on nose and spotlight trained on whatever I'm knitting. However, knitting to a talking book from the library is great fun and at the moment I'm busy travelling by train to Tokyo with Paul Theroux.

It's beyond me - but, as a child I was always in awe of a family friend who came to visit about once a year who crocheted constantly and kept a book going at the same time. She preferred one particular chair, the one with wide arms so she could lay the book on the right, her crochet instructions on the left (if needed), and crocheted away - sometimes carrying on conversations as well. :-)
