Just arrived from Herefordshire is this wonderful bouquet.
A few months ago I read an article about Charlie Ryrie and The Real Cut Flower Garden. Since then I've been following her blog, admiring the lovely flowers she grows and marvelling at how she manages to do everything she does despite our appalling summer weather.
But now I have some of Charlie's flowers here 'in the petal'. They were delivered first thing this morning packed in damp moss for the journey, and they are relaxing gently in my Maypole Dairy butter crock - which I think suits them very well - sitting by my desk where I can enjoy them.
My bunch includes cornflowers (of course! - both white and blue), alchemilla, ammi, cosmos, stocks, asters, astrantia and more - it's so pretty, so simple and so natural looking. I love it!
Thankyou to the generous Mr. C. for the thought, to Charlie for all the hard work, and happy birthday to my 'twin' Sarah - I hope you've got some just as nice as these!
What a wonderful man! Sadly all you got from me was this lousy comment!
Happy Birthday, Love from the dark side! P xxx

Happy birthday indeed - but what appalling summer weather is that? Above average temperatures and dry in June is all forgot in a wet (but still warm)July -and we had some good late August early Sept weather too!!
Admittedly, its been wet wet wet in the the north west of Scotland in particular, but Herefordshire shouldn't have been bad at all at all, overall.
