Adele and Carole and Elizabeth were asking about the pattern for the scarf I began on Sunday, and although I can't give you full details yet I can tell you that it's openwork stitch (little more than yo, p2tog all the way). I found it in Norah Gaughan's Knitting Nature where she uses it in the collar of the Ram's Horn Jacket, but it seemed right for a scarf, so off I went.
However, I decided I wanted v-shaped ends, so I cast on only four stitches and gradually increased to the desired width; now I'm working straight and shall make the eventual decreases at the other end to match the beginning. I did a mock-up with some scrap yarn first and it seems to work, so I'll give 'the pattern' here when I'm finished.
It's progressing quickly so far, though I'm only doing a row or two at a time in between other tasks, and it's already about 10 or 11 inches long (that's using sockweight yarn and 3mm needles). Stay tuned!
Glorious yarns, books and cinnamon butter creme.
Your blog is nothing but one gargantuan temptation to me.
And such a delight!

I love a simple pattern in a beautiful yarn - the process is mesmerising and the finished article is almost a pleasant surprise!
