Starting on Radio 4 at 2pm tomorrow (3rd. Feb.) is a series called "Musical Analysis" presented by the multi-talented Professor Robert Winston. You can read the details here, but as you'll see, he examines the relationship between the music of four famous composers and the medical conditions - both physical and mental - from which they suffered.
On a lighter 'note'(!) and interestingly, lots of doctors are musical; our GP, for instance, is a member of The Really Terrible Orchestra......
Edited to add: that should be 1.30pm.
This sounds a fascinating series. Sir Robert Winston really is an exceptional man and I look forward to catching up with tomorrows programme on BBC iplayer- a wonderful way to listen and watch programmes which you have missed.

"interestingly, lots of doctors are musical" I suggest this represents the fact that predominantly lots of doctors were brought up in families with the motivation and spare cash to finance music tuition for their children. However I have no eveidence for my assertion, but I suspect that the correlation is a strong one.

RTO Fantastic! Now where's my recorder I'm sure that I can play Au Clair de la lune if I put my mind to it.
