I've been feeling terribly stuck in a rut lately. It's a perfectly comfortable rut, and routine is all very well and things do get done, but I'm aware of how very same-y my days are and I feel that a little variety would do me good. So I thought I'd make this 'do something different - or differently - day'. When I've pressed the button to publish this small statement of intent, I'm off to try something new (clue in this post) - which I may report on later!
Does anyone feel like joining me (you don't have to tell us what you do!) ?

I've been thinking of doing different things to get me out of my rut as well! I want to do more interesting things with my children more specifically...

Well I made scones to a different recipe today, sounds a small thing but I've been making them the same way for years so it took a small leap of faith.
Hmmm, OK, I'll admit that's pathetic, I'm going to try and think of something bigger and will be very interested to hear more of what you've been up to.

Even more pathetic from me, I'm afraid! I went to the hygeinist for the first time today! I've always begrudged the extra cost (can't get NHS treatment) but, now I pay for the denplan thingy, I get three of these a year. Mmm, feels nice and sparkly now!

I've ordered the Julia Cameron book from my library in the hope that I gain a bit more creative inspiration for my writing. Thanks for mentioning it.

Sigh. . . stuck in a rut is called cabin fever in Maine, and after our bitter cold and snowy December and January, I'm greeting February with a ridiculous (and maybe dangerous?) amount of enthusiasm! My big goal is to see friends more, but being a teacher and mother, the lure of hibernation on the weekends is strong. . . I did sign up for a skirt sewing class at my local sewing store (last weekend in Feb.), and look forward to that as a change from knitting, which I usually do, quilting, which I have done, and staying at home, which is my default mode!

After six months of not working (voluntary redundancy) I am beginning to feel that each day is samey. I promised myself a good break but think that I have had it now.
What to do next - well still thinking about that !
