It has been a while since we had any Friday flowers, but this solitary little specimen was in the garden, looking somewhat raggedy and the worse for wear, and as snow is forecast for later today I thought I'd bring it into the warm.
On the subject of snow, while it's all very well for those who like slipping and sliding about, I was amused to read in Jean Muir: Beyond Fashion
that Miss Muir sought to avoid as much risk as possible in life so she made the decision not to learn to drive, ride or ski. I can do the first two, but I'm firmly with that sensible navy blue-clad lady on the last one!
Speaking of solitary specimens, I thought of you today when I saw in the window of a china shop on the Helensburgh seafront, a plain white coffee mug decorated with a single, medium sized cornflower. Maybe Dunoon pottery?
