When I was little and lived in the Isle of Man, we'd often go to the island's big town, Douglas, for shopping on Saturdays. These expeditions had their high and low points: Marks and Spencer was deadly dull, Woolworths, with counters full of pocket money-priced items, was much more interesting. If time permitted we'd look into Black's pet shop to talk to the mynah bird and then have a browse in the Lexicon bookshop, but whatever we did there was usually afternoon tea at Cannell's Cafe to look forward to.
My recollections of Cannell's baker's shop, through which you went to reach the cafe above, are of the large wooden trays full of cakes. These 'iced fancies' in pastel yellows and pinks, sometimes decorated with a silver ball, were much anticipated and would usually feature in the coming tea, and I thought of them when I got out some Kidsilk Haze in "Fondant" (shade 630) with which to make a scarf.
So here, in proper Cannell's fashion in a silver cakestand (specially polished, Mum!), are my own balls of fondant fanciness, destined to become one of these, though they do look good enough to eat, don't you think?
But where are my doilies when I need them?
Lovely remembrances and very tasty colour, Karen!

Doilies ! Yuk! If you have any I hope you don't find them. Love the wool colour though.

A scarf in that shade would be perfect with my new grey winter coat. You don't take orders do you?!

Well, you know my record with this wool, Cornflower!! But it looks heavenly and the pattern which I have printed off, says you can use silky wool also. I will try that. Less fiddly than kidsilk, I'm sure. Lovely!
