I know that a lot of people visit this site in the hope of getting some good reading recommendations, so I thought I'd show the current TBR pile(s) here on my desk, and in a series of brief posts, say a little about each book that's waiting for me to get to it.
But first, hands up anyone who, on seeing a book mountain of this size thinks "Yippee, it's just like Christmas!" - that's certainly my reaction, and long may I feel that excitement and anticipation; I can't wait to discover what delights each one may contain.
I'm well on with the first couple of these, so please come back later for tales of scones and servants.
My heart really did beat faster at the sight of those lovely books! I look forward to hearing what you think of 20 Chickens for a Saddle it is on my (very long) to be read list!

Absolutely. Better than a choc fix in fact. Can't wait to hear snippets from the book stash.

For years I thought I was the only one. Thank you Cornflower and your readers. I know now there are many others with a tbr habit!

Do move Tobias Wolff to the top of the pile. _Old School_ is brilliant.

Piles of books . . . I am not alone! What a wonderful sight!

I've just been sent the Traitor Gate too! Linda Newbery gave a wonderful review to this book on the children's books online website, Armadillo. A new young voice in teenage fiction...what could be better?

What a lovely pile--several look familiar, a few I have myself, and I am looking forward to hearing about the rest! Glad to know I'm not the only one with a towering pile.

It looks like Christmas and Birthdays all rolled into one - certainly very exciting. Almost as exciting as being let loose in a bookshop with gift vouchers!

I like the idea of a courgette salad, and I like the idea of getting the Tobias Wolff ... there are so many in the book pile I know I should enjoy. One question, though: I know what a Munro is, but what, in heaven's name, is a Corbett? Not a wee Ronnie? i.e. a titchy book pile? Surely nothing as straightforward at that?
Oh, Miss Brodie arrived today, courtesy of Read it Swap it, and the edition you showed, with the 'gels' walking across the page in front of the backdrop of Edinburgh. Lovely.
