Raindrops on roses

Madame Alfred Carriere having a shower yesterday.
One writer refers to this as a "Chopin waltz" of a rose, while another says the scent encourages prophetic dreams. I've yet to discover who Mme. Carriere was - does anyone happen to know?

I love that rose. I looked this up in Who Does your Garden Grow by Alex Pankhurst, a useful book which will tell you who Nora Barlow was and Madame Isaac Perriere but not, sadly, Madame Alfred.

Beautiful pictures. Madame Alfred could do with a haircut though, in the under-gardener's opinion.

..... whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and so on. You should put the song with this post. Lovely roses, although I prefer red ones.

I think that Alfred Carrier was a French botanist and gardener. He was responsible for the "polyantha" rose category. Presumably Mme Alfred Carrier was his wife.
