I love that rose. I looked this up in Who Does your Garden Grow by Alex Pankhurst, a useful book which will tell you who Nora Barlow was and Madame Isaac Perriere but not, sadly, Madame Alfred.

I think that Alfred Carrier was a French botanist and gardener. He was responsible for the "polyantha" rose category. Presumably Mme Alfred Carrier was his wife.
