Unusually for a girl who loves blue so much, I have a pair of pink shoes.
Here they are - suede ballet flats, comfortable, practical, a pretty shade ...
My daughters went shopping together the other day and the younger one bought some pink shoes. Just look at this:
She thinks she's the bee's knees in these, of course, and I'm not such an old fuddy-duddy that I can't see why, but I'm reminded of the scene in Alexander McCall Smith's Blue Shoes and Happiness where Mma Ramotswe accompanies Mma Makutsi to the shop to buy the coveted blue shoes: "For those shoes would most certainly give Mma Makutsi trouble - the moment she tried to walk anywhere in them. That, thought Mma Ramotswe, was glaringly obvious." Later Mma Makutsi admits her unwise choice, "But I felt great happiness when I wore them, and I shall always remember that." Mma Ramotswe agrees, "Well, that's the important thing, isn't it, Mma? To feel happiness and then to remember it."
By the way, my shoes, the ones sitting demurely in the sequin-reflected glow of Harriet's heels, are from Helen Bateman's wonderful shop (and she does mail order, too).
Love the shoes! (Both pair...)
As I look at all the dark (read 'black') shoes in my wardrobe, I'm trying to break the gravitational pull and this summer have bought a RED pair, a WHITE pair and a FRENCH NAVY pair. Ooh la la!
May have to work up my courage for a pink pair, but they really are lovely!

Oh Harriet! lovely shoes - just the sort of thing I would have adored - but at a slightly older age than you are at present. I have one or two pairs hidden away that might be of interest to you !!! amazing what can be found in my cupboards ! - Granny.

Both pairs are lovely.
What is it about pink that delights the female soul? My daughter is learning her colo(u)rs at nursery school and today is Pink Day. She was so proud to go to school in her pink sequinned Disney princess dress-up shoes.

Yours are incredible. I'm due to be moving up near Inverness at the end of the summer so I was very excited to see that she has a shop there. There may be beautiful new shoes in my future...

Dark Puss and Lindsay are beating a path to the shoe shop even now, pausing only to scoop up the impatient Mr Cornflower en route!!

I was just watching the film Razzle Dazzle and the chorus girls were wearing shoes like the sequin ones. Move over Priscilla!!!!!!

As my granny used to say: wear them in good health! You and Harriet both. Yours are DIVINE...H's a bit daunting for me. Here is yet another reason to visit Edinburgh, if one were needed. I must turn my mind to arranging one....

Dark Puss admired Harriet's shoes being modelled by their owner recently. He himself is more interested in other fashion items, so perhaps the trip Lindsay is arranging will have to make its way to the shoe shops without him.
DP did once go to a Salvatore Ferragamo retrospective however ...
