It is Buy a Friend a Book week again, and after all the fun of the last time when I sent Nancy Mitford to Canada (as it were, and that's not as curious as it sounds given that her father had a stake in a Canadian gold field and went out there to prospect - unsuccessfully), I wasn't going to miss the chance of letting loose some more literature, so please - everyone - take part in the Cornflower book draw!
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning a book (whose title I shall not reveal just yet)
is leave a comment on this post any time over the next few days.
You don't have to be a regular visitor to the site to take part, anybody who has just dropped in by accident or by design is welcome to say hello and have their name put in the hat.
Distance is no object, either, as I can send the prize anywhere in the world.
The draw will take place when I'm home from holiday, but if I've managed to press the right buttons, some themed posts should be appearing here as if by magic while I am up a Swiss mountain, so keep popping back for a look.
Everyone's in with a chance, so just click 'comment' , and may you have better luck than Nancy's "Farve"!
Hello - thanks for telling me about the book giveaway! I'm just rereading Love in a Cold Climate, after just finishing The Pursuit of Love, again. They're great to read under the eiderdown! Hope you have a good holiday.

Hi Karen!
You should not be surprised to hear from me! I am on the way out the door momentarily, but have been planning to email you. Will do so this afternoon. When are you leaving on holiday?

Hello Karen, no flute lesson today (rats) or for a whole month (double rats), so I will have time to up my reading rate. An extra book would help me greatly!
Say hello to CH from me (I'll be over in April). I promise to keep away from the Gothic while you are away.

Karen -- I hope your trip to Switzerland is as wonderful as the one I made to Colorado. Avice

What fun! And how generous. And mysterious and exciting to send an unknown book to a stranger. I want to win!!
Posted by: Ros | 31 March 2007 at 04:55 PM
I dunno. It feels greedy to sign up for a book giveaway, when I look around my house and see too many books everywhere. But how could anybody resist this offer? It is fun to be in contact with readers far across the ocean.
Let's do this. If I happen to win your drawing, I will send you a book in exchange.

Have a beautiful holiday, Karen! Can't wait to hear all about it on your return. :0)

It's impossible to resist a contest, especially when the prize is a mysterious book (though I do agree with some other commenters that I have so many books already that it seems greedy to enter!). But I will enter anyway, and if I win I would love to return the favor by sending you a book of my own!

How generous, I am leaving a comment as well, just in case I am lucky enough to win a book (one cannot have too many)
Lovely blog by the way.

I join the ranks of those feeling greedy, but I think it would be great fun to receive a book from my new online friend. Sign me up!

Please count me in, Karen. I will send one back in return.
I read the post with Mollie and Bess - are they the canine version of Bonnie and Clyde? Is Bess the proud owner of Mr. and Mrs. A.?
Have a fun holiday!

Missing Spring in Edinburgh? Hope you enjoy Switzerland - look forward to hearing/seeing all about it.
Another book draw! Wish me luck.

Hi Karen,
How could I resist a wonderful offer like that! I hope you have had a great holiday. I am currently reading Mary S. Lovell's biography "The Mitford Sisters" so I have much sympathy for poor Favre!

Hello! Fellow bookworm here! I just dropped my name into the free book pot. Thanks for hosting this!
Hope your trip is going well!

A lurker writes: what a tempting offer! Hope that you're having a wonderful holiday. (Have arrived at your site via links on blogs belonging to 2 friends I've made via SP exchanges. The world feels so small these days!)

What a lovely idea! Throw me into your hat!

I can see you now...... bundled up, sitting outside in the sunshine, open book in your lap, knitting at the ready on one side, and a cup of steamy hot chocolate on the other, as you watch the skiers zipping down the hill with careless abandon. I can hardly wait to read all about it. (~_~)
Speaking of reading Karen, I'd love to have my name put in the pot for the book too, and thanks for the great idea. Hugs, Ann

I can't resist an appeal like this - even although the house is overflowing with books another would be more than welcome! - especially a surprise.
I always enjoy your blog site - in so many ways. Thank you for the pleasures.

I always enjoy your blog.
Please put me in your draw and thanks for your kindness

Okay, I'm in for the book draw. Looking forward to your holiday report!
Posted by: Kelly | 03 April 2007 at 02:30 AM
I missed the "It is Buy a Friend a Book week again" - haven't had a chance to look in since the posting just before that. If the book-draw is still on, include me! This is fun, since I just picked out a book on abebooks for my neighbor/friend - one of my favorites (have entered it in my catalog on LibraryThing): How the Heather Looks, by Joan Bodger. You'd love it... Nancy T.

I run a book stall for a local gardening group and it's always the people who say, 'Oh dear, I have too many books already' who buy one. Just like your admiring readers. I'd like to be in the draw and to make it more fun, if I were to win I would like to send a book to another of your posters. If I can think of a way to do it...

I would love to join the book draw. What fun!

I'm another that feels its greedy to enter, but like the idea that if I win I'll send you (or one of your other readers - your choice) a book in return so please enter me in your draw (and hope you are enjoying your Swiss holiday)
PS Today's piece of glass (the green bowl) is absolutely stunning!

The colors on your blog this week have been gorgeous! Count me in for the book draw! I can't resist!
Posted by: Robin | 05 April 2007 at 02:25 PM
Gosh, who can resist?! If I'm in time here's my entry. If not, here it still is, but not in as exciting a way...

After a hectic hairpulling few days of tax forms I'm catching up on blogs - and just in time. :-)
I'd meant to participate this time around, and now thanks to your posting it's not too late.
Hope the real snow was kinder than your lesson hill.
