In the early days of this site I wrote about a bag I made. The original was in alpaca silk and turned out so well that I wanted to make another, but in a different yarn. The latest one is fresh out of the washing machine where it has felted nicely, but here's a "before" shot for before the "after" one:
The pattern is from Debbie Bliss's book "Home" (see sidebar), and I used nearly 6 skeins of Colinette Point 5 in 'Velvet Bilberry' (which I got at an excellent price on Ebay) and 12mm circular needles. Before felting it seemed rather on the large size - it measured about 18" x 21" - but after its 95 degree bath and agitated spin it is a more modest 10" x 14".
It's big enough to take a book and some knitting.....
I'm surprised how much it shrunk! I guess that's the nature of it, and by shrinking I'm assuming it also becomes stronger.
Lovely color. I like that a lot. Makes me want to take up knitting again...

Love the color -- for its own sake and the way it matches the blog today.

Thanks for showing the beautiful bag, Cornflower. I have a few ball of Lopi and I cannot wear that particular wool, but it would make perfect 'project and book' bags.
The wonderful thing about blogs is that you get that gentle push you need now and then. I feel gently pushed to make a bag!
