What a gorgeous color. I don't think I've ever seen tulips this dark.

These are stunning. I've seen these in plant catalogs before and always thought they'd be lovely to order.

I have some 'black' tulips in my garden. They are up about 2.5 inches at the moment. I think mine are called "Black Knight".
I love tulips, but when mine bloom, I only pick one bloom out of the bunch to bring in and enjoy in a few little vases I keep just for the tulips!

I grew them last spring- ever since we 'did' La Tulipe Noire by Dumas in French lessons at school many many years ago I wanted to grow black tulips,and finally did! Have you seen The Tulip: The Story of a Flower that Made Men Mad by Anna Pavord? And another fascinating book by the same author: The Naming of Names: The Search for Order in the World of Plants?
