Through a glass, brightly
Innocent pleasures: mango and passion fruit sorbet. No fat, no sugar, no guilt.
Custard glasses.
Whisk two egg whites to firm peak stage. Fold into 8 fl.oz. of Innocent Mango and Passion Fruit Smoothie. Freeze. Beat when semi-frozen and freeze again.

BRILLIANT! And you could use ANY innocent smoothie presumably...? Oh joy!
Merry Christmas to all Cornflowers.

hi there, just noticed the post on freezing bananas. just one question... did you peel the bananas first? not sure if you did and whether this is why they went brown. Also, frozen grapes are bloomin marvelous too, just like fresh fruity ice cubes!!

My flatmate has frozen some bananas, he claims they make good smoothies when used like that, but i beg to differ....we looked in the freezer yesterday and they've gone brown. Nasty.
I have some leftover egg whites so wil try this. Good change from meringues.

Haven't had much time to peruse my favorite blogs lately. I wish I had seen this when you posted it. Ed had four teeth pulled Friday. He's such a stoic but still, a treat like this would have been wonderful. And Innocent Mango and Passion smoothie is at our grocers. :-) It's going on the list.
I love your play on the glass phrase.

OH my gosh, I'm so hungry!! I can't eat right now as I'm poised for an important phone call. I'm allergic/intolerant to lots of foods, you see, and if I eat I'll increase my odds of sneezing and coughing my way through the phone call. That's the mark of an important call. Otherwise I wouldn't mind so much.
But this sorbet, my goodness. I'm putting that one on my list. My kids love fruit smoothies and such, and I think they'd devour this.

Thanks for the idea, Cornflower. I happen to have a fresh mango in the fridge, and a frozen banana in the freezer, so I plan to mix the two and give it a try. Will let you know the results!
I often make 'frozen banana' ice cream by putting pieces of frozen banana in the processor, adding some orange rind and low fat yogurt or sour cream. Whiz - serve - enjoy!
